Maths - Basic facts goal

My basic facts goal was to master my 7 and 12 times tables .
One of the things that helped me achieve my goal was hit the button

At the beginning of the week for 12 times tables I got 17 out of 19 . At the end of the week I got 31 out of 31


At the beginning of the week for 7 times tables I got  20 out of 23 . At the end of the week I got 29 out of 29

Writing Reflection

    Reflection

What did I do well ?  I met all of my success criterias and learning intentions . I also used language features for impact . Example : My heart felt as if it was racing a cheetah and winning .

What did I learn? I learnt how to punctuate speech correctly  and use semi-colons .  The structure of how to  write a narrative .

What was difficult ? It was difficult to work on lots of success criteria and include everything . Also make sure my ideas were relevant to my flaw

What next ?   Find out why and how Ellipses are used and Learn how to use connective devices .

Erica and Chloe -The Speech

“Chloe, what am I going to do ?”

“I’m not sure , why are you asking me ? You need to think for yourself Erica !” Chloe sighed .

“ Puppies,Books,Technology? Chloe please help me you always have the best ideas,” I moaned

“Fine,but only if you give me some credit. You should do your speech on why you hate speeches.”

“Thank you so much Chloe ,you're the best .”

As Chloe and I walked to school she explained that she was presenting her speech on ‘Singing’ .

“Are you actually going to sing?”

“Of course I am.”

“Won’t it be terrifying ?”

“No! I’m not a scaredy cat,like you.”

“Hey!” I said giving her a playful shove

I stood there petrified;My teeth were chattering and I was only performing in front of my class!

“Speeches,do any of you like speeches? Well, I don’t and today I’m going to tell you why I Erica HATE speeches.”

My nerves started to feel like they were lying on a smooth,heated beach ; But the longer that I had been talking but I was speaking faster and faster  .One of my least favorite things about speeches is… when you are about to perform! ...Then finally THE END. I was extremely relieved . The applaud felt amazing, like the sound of waves lapping onto the sand.

The class started chatting as listening to 27 speeches can be VERY boring .People were throwing paper across the class yawning,whispering to their friends.Until Chloe!She started singing;she was amazing!Her voice    echoing in the small room as all 26 of us stared in wonder .

I was in my bedroom,pacing around attempting to memorise my speech.

“Speeches are a pain?annoying?” Snorting in annoyance, I gave up. As I lied down on my bed, I started thinking:maybe speeches weren't so bad after all.

3 days passed,It was the day of the speech.It felt as if my heart was racing a cheetah,and winning . Chloe was waiting for me but she didn’t seem nervous at all .

“Chloe aren’t you nervous .” I practically shouted

“About what ?”

“It’s the day of the speech compitition.How could you forget that?”

“AAHhh. I haven’t been practising ,I thought it was next week.”

“Oh,well there’s nothing we can do about that,” She looked up at me mournfully with the saddest puppy dog eyes that she could manage.

“There’s got to be something we can do!”

“Sorry Chloe you’ll  just have to hope that you’re last.”

When we arrived at school,we were marched off to the hall ,the speakers going backstage.

We picked numbers out of the basket to determine the order;I got dreaded number 1 . As I  My stomach doing never ending somersaults .

“Erica your turn ,good luck!”

“Your heart was pounding,your brow pouring sweat,your hands feel like slime.It felt as if time had stopped . Well today I’m going to tell you why I ,Erica hate speeches .”

I continued,I felt as if people were actually enjoying it . By the time I finished I was out of breath . The applause deafening,I strolled of the stage.As Chloe congratulated me  I collapsed from exhaustion,who knew that doing a speech was so exhausting .

“Good luck Chloe !”

“I think I’ll need it !”she replied

“You’ll be fine,” I said

“If you say so .”

Chloe was fine,she came second place!But surprisingly, I came 1st .

When my prize money was handed over ,I was astonished ! There was $250 .

“Chloe, what am I going to do ?”

“I’m not sure , why are you asking me ? You need to think for yourself Erica !” But this time she did grin mischievously .

Cross Country

                Cross Country

Do you like cross country ? Well I don’t . The sludge of the mud crawling like worms up my legs , The feeling of mud crawling under my toenails,feeling like a dead flower too weak to hold themselves up .  I was parched and could taste blood in my throat,people were falling down on either side of me .

Down the finish shoot ,sprinting like a leopard that hasn’t eaten for weeks, desperate to catch it’s prey . I bounded across the finish line . I felt like a stone resting on the bottom of the ocean . So shattered that I could barely walk ,longing for water,for sleep,for rest . But not yet .

5 minutes later I was sitting down on the rough concrete floor. Quenching my thirst with a glass of ice cold water.It had been a successful cross country. The last one that I will ever compete in at Pinehill .

Mathletics Learning

This week on Mathletics I have learnt how to subtract fractions with different denominators .
An Example of this is:

21/49 - 2/7 =

First you have to change the denominator to the same numbers,you usually change the smaller number to the bigger number using multiplication.

7x8 = 49  2x8= 16

21/49  - 16/49 = 5/49

This is how you subtract fractions with different denominators .
